Pinpointing Where and How Many Cells in Different Regions are Active (IMAGE)
Caption
Panels A, B, and C show the results of different stages in data processing, following collection of the whole-brain activation map. Active cells are correlated with brain regions, and ultimately, in panel C it is possible to count the number of individual cells active in each region of interest. The active areas include hippocampus (dark blue; 33,508 active cells) amygdala (light blue; 3035 cells) nucleus accumbens (green; 13,627 cells) and infralimbic cortical area (red; 4,665 cells).
