Bella Linz, 15, of Meadville, Pa., has a rare disease called VLCADD. UPMC and University of Pittsburgh pediatrician-scientists recently discovered the cause of debilitating muscle break down due to the disease and have a lead on treatment, thanks in part to Linz's participation in research.
