Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and Imperial College in London have been studying propofol, the world's most widely used intravenous anesthetic. And the research team reports in the journal Nature Chemical Biology that they have now identifed the site at which that drug binds to receptors in brain cells to sedate patients during surgery.
