UA optical scientist Poul Jessen and his team studied the quantum version of a spinning top with this laboratory apparatus. They used a cesium atom as the quantum version of a spinning top, "kicked" and "twisted" the top using external magnetic and optical fields, then made images of their results with a technique called tomography.
