Image of cursive "Lehigh" (IMAGE) Lehigh University Caption This map was made by acquiring electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) pictures inside the electron microscope. With this technique, Musterman and colleagues acquired >50,000 images to determine crystallinity, phase, and lattice orientation of our structures on a pixel-by-pixel basis. Everywhere that is black is glass, while colors indicate different crystal orientations. The cursive "Lehigh" is highly oriented crystal.
