在Alice与Bob处，经简化后的发射端包含一个激光源和一个编码器。编码器能够调制光脉冲的相位。同时Alice和Bob应当监控编码器的调制信息，以记录与表征理想脉冲和实际脉冲之间的偏差。如果Charlie是可信方，他会对接收到的信号进行干涉测量。
