Researcher Claudia Bernier walks a weather balloon out to an opening at the coastal Westport, Connecticut (CTDEEP/EPA) site during the first STAQS research flight on July 26, 2023. The balloon payload has an ozone instrument that will provide vertical information during the balloon's ascent. A TOLNet lidar, Pandora spectrometer, and ceilometer for studying clouds are in the background.
