Scientists from eighteen countries around the world will participate in
sessions focused on the following subjects:
- Sensory systems of deep-sea animals
- Evolution and diversity of deep-sea organisms
- Deep-sea populations and communities
- Sources and utilization of carbon in the deep sea
- Microorganisms in the deep sea
- Deep-sea pelagic communities
- Biology and ecology at hydrothermal vents and cold seeps
- Effects of environmental disturbance in the deep sea
Print and broadcast media are welcome to cover the symposium. However, due to the limited capacity of aquarium conference facilities and ongoing aquarium visitor activities, representatives of the press must pre-register for admission as soon as possible with Kelly Burgess.
