(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — The Association for Psychological Science (APS), the leading organization serving psychological researchers, practitioners, teachers, and students from around the world, has announced a new partnership that will expand the training and career development resources available to its members.
APS has partnered with Instats, a virtual learning platform offering live and on-demand research training seminars, courses, and workshops. Instats provides its PhD-level programming through its global network of experts and institutions. The platform’s instructors include professors in psychology, data science, biology, economics, medicine, and many other fields. The courses include training in longitudinal data analysis, mixed-methods research, modern machine learning techniques, and much more.
As part of the partnership, APS members receive a 30% discount on all Instats’s seminars and structured courses. APS will also begin to offer additional courses via the platform.
“APS is pleased to bring this important new benefit to our members,” said Chief Executive Officer Robert Gropp. “Our Instats partnership augments existing workshops held at our Annual Convention and other online training programs we offer.”
The partnership represents “a leap forward” for scientific psychology, said Instats Director Michael Zyphur.
“Through this partnership, APS members will gain exclusive benefits and unique access to the Instats platform,” Zyphur said. “By working together, APS and Instats will create an online space for basic and advanced research training, community engagement, collaboration, and more through APS's presence on the platform.”
In addition to its Annual Convention, APS hosts a variety of articles, tutorials, and virtual events aimed at advancing sound research methods and practices. The organization publishes six journals, including its flagship Psychological Science and Advances in Methods and Practices in Psychological Science. As outlined in its strategic plan, APS commits to strengthening science by providing current and future researchers with the intellectual and professional resources required to advance their careers and the science.
“We look forward to working with Instats to deliver the cutting-edge professional development and training that will help APS members advance science and achieve their professional goals,” Gropp said.
