DFG announces Communicator Award 2025

Recognition for outstanding accomplishments in science communication

Business Announcement

Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) once again announces the “Communicator Award – Science Award of Stifterverband”. Endowed with €50,000, this award goes to an individual researcher or a research team that has made an outstanding contribution to science communication. The DFG and Stifterverband present the award each year to researchers in any research area who make their work and their specialist area accessible to a wider audience in a particularly innovative, diverse and effective way, thereby proactively promoting dialogue between the research community and society.

Researchers may apply themselves or be nominated by someone else. This announcement is directed at researchers working at higher education institutions or non-university research institutions in Germany. The aim of the DFG and Stifterverband in presenting the award and the award money is to encourage prizewinners to further develop their activities in the area of science communication.

Applications and nominations can be submitted by 30 September 2024 via the DFG’s elan portal.

They are evaluated by a jury of communication experts chaired by a member of the DFG Executive Committee. The prizewinner or winning research team will be selected and announced in spring 2025, and the award will be presented on 30 June 2025 at the DFG annual meeting in Hamburg.
