Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B (APSB) was founded with the goal of creating a global high-level forum centred around drug discovery and pharmaceutical research/application. APSB was included by Chemical Abstracts in 2011, accepted by PubMed Central in 2015, indexed by Science Citation Index in 2017 and has evolved to become one of the most important international journals in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

APSB is a monthly journal, in English, which publishes significant original research articles, rapid communications and high-quality reviews of recent advances in all areas of pharmaceutical sciences — including pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, natural products, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical analysis and pharmacokinetics.

Articles of interest in this issue include:

Recent advances to address challenges in extracellular vesicle-based applications for lung cancer by Gaigai Huang, Wenshu Zheng, Yu Zhou, Meihua Wan and Tony Hu (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2024.06.010). This review discusses lung cancer management challenges and explores the potential of extracellular vesicles (EVs) for personalized treatment and diagnosis, focusing on enhancing clinical translation through advanced engineering technologies.

Heme oxygenase 1-mediated ferroptosis in Kupffer cells initiates liver injury during heat stroke by Ru Li, Riqing Wei, Chenxin Liu et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2024.05.007). This study elucidates the intricate molecular mechanisms underpinning heat stroke-induced liver injury, highlighting the diverse responses of Kupffer cell (KC) subsets and the pivotal role of HMOX-1 in orchestrating ferroptosis in KCs, particularly in KC2, and NLRP3 inflammasome activation.

Molecular glue triggers degradation of PHGDH by enhancing the interaction between DDB1 and PHGDH by Ziqi Huang, Kun Zhang, Yurui Jiang et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2024.06.001). A novel "molecular glue", LXH-3-71, was discovered to degrade PHGDH by facilitating formation of the dynamic chimera between PHGDH and DDB1-CRL E3 ligase in CRC cells.

In situ tumor vaccine with optimized nanoadjuvants and lymph node targeting capacity to treat ovarian cancer and metastases by Yuan Li, Fan Tong, Yufan Wang et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2024.06.003). A smart tumor in situ nano-vaccine Tra/CpG@Man-P/Gel was constructed, and the size of nanoadjuvants was optimixed, to induce potent antitumor immunity and inhibit the primary and metastatic tumors.
