The annual World-Leading Course in interventional cardiovascular medicine is the official meeting of the European Association for Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI). Thousands of participants will once again be gathering to share their knowledge, skills and experience on 20-23 May 2025, at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France.
EuroPCR’s 4-day programme covers interventions for coronary and peripheral vessels, valvular disease, heart failure, hypertension and stroke. The content is tailored for interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, imaging specialists, radiologists, nurses, allied professionals and other practitioners at all stages of their career, as well as for the field’s researchers, innovators and industry representatives.
The interventional cardiovascular community from all across the world will be taking advantage of an extensive programme built by the six EuroPCR Course Directors: Thomas Cuisset (FR), Nicolas Dumonteil (FR), PCR Co-Chairman Jean Fajadet (FR), Nieves Gonzalo (SP), PCR Co-Chairman Bernard Prendergast (UK) and PCR Chairman William Wijns (IE).
The philosophy of making complex things simple has always been at the heart of the PCR mission, and the overarching theme announced for this edition is the sharing of solutions for complexity. There are three levels of complexity in interventional cardiology. Firstly, it may be due to lesion itself or at a procedural level – such as high technicality or need for risk prevention. Secondly, complexity may stem from the patient – for example their co-morbidities, risk of high-bleeding or chronic kidney disease, systemic complications, etc. The third level may be termed system complexity - linked to the healthcare system, environment, access, reimbursement and regulatory issues, etc. Sessions related to complexity will be found in all parts of the programme.

New this year: Translate the TOP trials into practice sessions will use case presentations to spark discussions on the impact of major Late-Breaking Trials from recent years. The topics and studies concerned are: DCB after REC-CAGEFREE, Vulnerable plaque PCI after PREVENT, TAVI for asymptomatic aortic stenosis after EARLY TAVI, as well as TAVI and coronary artery disease after NOTION-3.
Throughout the Course, sessions with LIVE Educational cases will address a large number of topics including: TAVI; bicuspid aortic valve disease; calcific coronary artery disease; PCI for stent failure; tricuspid valve repair; multivessel disease; bioprosthetic valve failure; combined LAA closure and transcatheter mitral valve repair; DK crush stenting; bifurcation disease; and left main disease. During two of these LIVE sessions, for the first time at EuroPCR, an on-stage simulator will be used to support the key learnings of the procedure.
The extremely popular Learning sessions are at the core of the EuroPCR experience. They call upon LIVE and real-world cases to share fundamentals and foster exchange on the latest techniques in a unique, step-by-step manner. New sessions entitled Learning from your best companions’ cases promise to be particularly interactive too, and will cover both coronary interventions and interventions for valvular disease. The programme is further enriched by countless other presentations, selected from among a huge total of 3,018 submissions.
Simulation-based learning will remain an important focus of the Course, with a total of 42 sessions. They will take place in the Simulation Learning Room, the Hands-On Lab, and in 2 Imaging Skills Labs that will offer guided demonstrations and real-time practice on dedicated imaging software. One of the simulation-based sessions is newly tailored to be part of the substantial nurse and allied professionals programme, and will explore heart anatomy and function through a live heart dissection.
The opportunity to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience will also be found in 16 fully-equipped training rooms spread across the vast 1,100+ sqm Training Village. The latest tools, simulators and technologies will be implemented to enhance participants’ skills on topics such as: calcified lesions, IVUS-guided PCI, CTO techniques and valve implantation.

The day before EuroPCR, the EAPCI-PCR Fellows Course will gather fellows as well as practitioners who are at the beginning of their career as interventionists. The one-day programme will comprise five practical, patient-centred sessions on topics including STEMI, multivessel disease, left main, and severely calcified vessels. Participants will also be given practical tips on how to enhance their presentation and communication skills.
PCR Innovators Day is being held on 19 May too, offering a unique opportunity to connect with the field’s key stakeholders in innovation. This year’s main themes are the degeneration of TAVI valves, atrioventricular valves, and innovative solutions for persistent challenges in cardiovascular care. A new Great Debate will address how to ensure startup companies secure funding for success and exit, and the Jon DeHaan Foundation will reward the best innovation with a generous grant of $200.000 USD.
