Professor Elke Grimminger-Seidensticker, a researcher at Paderborn University, has received the ‘Fellowship Award’ from the ‘Association Internationale des Écoles Supérieures d'Éducation Physique’ (AIESEP) in recognition of her academic achievements in the field of sport pedagogy and didactics. The award's ceremony was held at the end of May during the annual conference in Florida, USA. The AIESEP is the central scientific organisation for sport pedagogy and teacher training on an international level. The AIESEP states that ‘this is the highest award that our organisation grants to scholars’.
At Paderborn University, Professor Grimminger-Seidensticker heads the ‘Sports Didactics and Pedagogy’ research group at the Faculty of Science. It focuses on empirical school sports research and sport pedagogy health research. It also examines the pedagogic and didactic design of physical education in light of the different dimensions of heterogeneity, as well as the physical education experience from a student’s perspective.
The sport pedagogy health research conducted by Professor Grimminger-Seidensticker and her team primarily looks at the age group of children and young people. Body dissatisfaction, sporting activity and psychosocial aspects such as eating disorders also form part of the research group’s areas of focus.
‘This award is a huge honour for me’, Professor Grimminger-Seidensticker said. ‘I am looking forward to continuing academic exchange with colleagues at home and abroad, and I am delighted to accept the responsibility conferred with this Fellowship to conduct future research and train the scholars of the future.’ The Dean, Professor Wolf Gero Schmidt, was also proud: ‘On behalf of the Faculty of Science, I would like to congratulate our colleague, who is setting new standards in sport pedagogy and didactics. Her commitment is not only enhancing our university, but also having a lasting impact on society.’
