The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 9th IOF Asia-Pacific Bone Health Conference, taking place in Tokyo, Japan, from December 11–13, 2025.

As populations age, the Asia-Pacific region is experiencing a sharp rise in osteoporosis and related fractures. In fact, by 2050, over 50% of all osteoporotic hip fractures worldwide are projected to occur in Asia. This major scientific conference offers a vital opportunity for healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers to collaborate and address the growing challenges of bone health in the region.

In addition, the launch of the IOF Asia-Pacific Regional Audit 2025 will showcase a vital new resource that presents the latest data from 22 countries in the region, along with key messages to advance osteoporosis prevention, management, and policy action.

The Conference will be held at the Hamamatsucho Convention Hall in Tokyo, with an option for virtual participation. It is co-chaired by IOF President Professor Nicholas Harvey and Professor Atsushi Suzuki (Fujita Health University School of Medicine, Japan). Esteemed representatives from leading organizations across the region are represented in the scientific committee and plenary sessions.

As a leading international forum, the conference will highlight the latest clinical advances and strategies to improve patient care. It also offers invaluable networking opportunities with experts across the Asia-Pacific and beyond. The sessions will be delivered in English, with Japanese interpretation available during Q&A sessions to support local participants.

Conference Highlights

The scientific programme will include oral and poster presentations of new research, selected from abstract submissions (deadline: September 25, 2025). The agenda features eight dynamic plenary sessions with lectures covering key themes:

•    The Burden of Osteoporosis in the Asia-Pacific – and launch of the IOF Asia-Pacific Regional Audit
•    Nutrition, Exercise, and Bone Health
•    Fracture Risk Assessment
•    Skeletal Fragility from Rare Bone Disorders and Secondary Osteoporosis
•    Falls and Fractures
•    Artificial Intelligence and Innovative Technologies in Bone Health Assessment
•    IOF-ESCEO Joint Session (Topics: Bone Turnover Markers, Meta-analysis/Guidelines preparation, Parathyroid Hormone Receptor Agonists)
•    Gender and Its Influence on Osteoporosis Management

Before the official start of the conference, IOF will host a ‘Fundamentals of Osteoporosis’ training course for local healthcare professionals. A Capture the Fracture® session will also be held, aimed at enhancing knowledge around the development and implementation of regional fracture liaison services.

This event serves as a vital platform to advance knowledge, drive collaboration, and tackle the rising burden of osteoporosis in the Asia-Pacific region,” said IOF CEO Dr. Philippe Halbout. “By sharing the latest research and management strategies, we can collectively improve patient outcomes and promote better bone health throughout the region.
