Macquarie University’s Cyber Skills Academy (CSA) has signed a strategic partnership with Quill Learning to deliver industry-ready cyber education across Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian region.

Macquarie University is ranked among the world’s top one per cent of universities, and the collaboration will make available fifteen online micro-credentials – spanning cyber awareness, defence, incident response, leadership, and AI security.

The courses are offered to both individual learners and through organisations, are designed to fit around full-time work, and can be stacked towards globally recognised qualifications.

“Southeast Asia faces one of the largest cyber-workforce gaps on the planet,” said Matt Bushby, CEO of the Cyber Skills Academy.

The International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) estimates the region needs at least 1.1 million additional practitioners to keep pace with growing digital economies.

“By teaming up with Quill Learning, we can offer a flexible, evidence-based pathway that delivers immediate ROI: employees apply new skills from day one, and employers see risk reduced in real time,” Mr Bushby said.

Recent data from Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency show that social-engineering and ransomware incidents climbed 25 per cent year-on-year, underscoring the urgency for fresh talent and up-skilling at scale.

Quill Learning Managing Director, Paul Ling, said the partnership fills a critical gap for learners who need high-quality, industry-based education.

“Our mission is to open globally recognised qualifications to non-traditional students and mid-career professionals. Partnering with Macquarie University gives them gold-standard content plus the confidence of a top-ranked institution.”
