Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B (APSB) was founded with the goal of creating a global high-level forum centred around drug discovery and pharmaceutical research/application. APSB was included by Chemical Abstracts in 2011, accepted by PubMed Central in 2015, indexed by Science Citation Index in 2017 and has evolved to become one of the most important international journals in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

APSB is a monthly journal, in English, which publishes significant original research articles, rapid communications and high-quality reviews of recent advances in all areas of pharmaceutical sciences — including pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, natural products, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical analysis and pharmacokinetics.

Articles of interest in this issue include:

Editorial Special Column: Nanomedicines for tumor microenvironment modulation by Huile Gao, Feihu Wang and Yang Shi, (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2025.05.027). Nanomedicine is a powerful tool for disease microenvironment modulation and disease treatment. Deep understanding of the function of microenvironment in disease development may provide new targets for nanomedicine design and disease treatment.

Nanomedicine-driven tumor glucose metabolic reprogramming for enhanced cancer immunotherapy by Chenwei Jiang, Minglu Tang, Yun Su and colleagues, (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2025.04.002). Glucose metabolism modulating nanomedicines (GMMNs) precisely target tumor cells, respond to the tumor microenvironment, enable multi-drug co-delivery, and facilitate combination therapies, thereby effectively correcting aberrant glucose metabolism, reshaping the immunosuppressive microenvironment, and ultimately improving the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy.

Silencing PTPN2 with nanoparticle-delivered small interfering RNA remodels tumor microenvironment to sensitize immunotherapy in hepatocellular carcinoma by Fu Wang, Haoyu You, Huahua Liu and colleagues, (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2025.03.015). Glucose metabolism modulating nanomedicines (GMMNs) precisely target tumor cells, respond to the tumor microenvironment, enable multi-drug co-delivery, and facilitate combination therapies, thereby effectively correcting aberrant glucose metabolism, reshaping the immunosuppressive microenvironment, and ultimately improving the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy.

Linkage of circadian rhythm disruptions with Alzheimer's disease and therapeutic interventions by Kishore Madamanchi, Jianhua Zhang and Girish C. Melkani, (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2025.04.011). Circadian rhythm disruption (CRD) accelerates aging, neurodegeneration, and gut dysbiosis, creating a feedback loop that worsens Alzheimer's disease (AD). AD further disrupts circadian rhythms, fueling cognitive decline and metabolic imbalance. Time-restricted feeding (TRF) realigns circadian rhythms, restores gut microbiome balance, and enhances cognitive function, offering a non-invasive strategy to slow AD progression.
