ROCKVILLE, MD – The Obesity Society (TOS), the leading organization of scientists and health professionals devoted to understanding and reversing the epidemic of obesity, is pleased to announce the addition of new staff members to its leadership team, enhancing its commitment to addressing obesity through innovative strategies and expert guidance. Under the leadership of its new CEO, Sherlyn Celone-Arnold, M.S., the organization is poised to strengthen its operational, research, and clinical initiatives.

Dr. Angela Golden, DNP, FAANP, FOMA, FOTS, joins TOS as Vice President of Clinical Affairs. A leader in clinical practice with over four decades of association leadership, Dr. Golden is the owner of two clinical practices and holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree focused on health policy and evidence-based practice. She’s also the past president of American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Her extensive experience includes serving as Chair of the Clinical Practice Section and contributing to the Clinical Practice and Education Committees at TOS. Recognized nationally as an award-winning clinician, author, speaker, and researcher, Dr. Golden's recent honors include the 2024 AANP Sharp Cutting Edge Award and the 2023 America’s Top NP Award.
Lindsey Shaw, MBA, PMP, has been appointed as Vice President of Operations and Corporate Affairs. With over 20 years of experience in operational improvement, business modernization, strategic communications, policy outreach, and project management, Shaw will oversee the integration and enhancement of TOS's operational strategies, communication efforts, public affairs outreach, marketing campaigns, and membership engagement initiatives. Her proven track record in driving business transformation initiatives will be instrumental in bolstering the organization's reputation and enhancing member experience.
Other new recent hires at TOS include Kimberly Vadas, MABMH, CHCP, FACEHP, who has been appointed as Senior Director of Compliance and Educational Strategy, and Marina Freedman, M.S., CMP, who joins as Senior Manager of Educational Programs.
