Barcelona, Spain – 18 August 2025 – EBMT (The European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation) is proud to announce the 10th International Transplant and Cellular Therapy Course (#ITCTC25), set to take place from 5-7 September 2025, at the University of Barcelona – Faculty of Medicine, Spain.

This landmark event marks ten years of dedication to advancing education in haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and cellular therapies, reaffirming EBMT’s commitment to empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Originally launched in 2016 as the International Transplant Course (ITC), the ITCTC has grown into a leading educational platform, evolving in step with the rapid progress of HCT and cell therapy. Over the past decade, the course has played a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive, high-quality education to early-career professionals and nurturing a global community focused on improving patient outcomes.

“We know that continuous education is essential to ensure patients benefit from the rapid evolution of transplant and cellular therapies. This course has grown into a crucial forum where scientific advances are connected with clinical realities, equipping professionals with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions in complex cases. EBMT remains committed to supporting this exchange and preparing the next generation to meet the challenges ahead,” said Anna Sureda, EBMT President.

EBMT remains committed to expanding access to world-class education across Europe and beyond. Selected oral case presenters will receive travel grants to attend the course in Barcelona and actively contribute to the exchange of knowledge within the EBMT community.

“The aim of this course remains deeply aligned with the EBMT’s mission to promote the dissemination of knowledge and the advancement of stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies. It is a true privilege to celebrate a decade of educational excellence, and I look forward to continuing to help shape the future of our field,” mentioned Mohamad Mohty, EBMT Past President and founder of the International Transplant Course.

Hilda Mekelenkamp, EBMT Nurses Group President, added: “This course offers a powerful opportunity for junior nursing professionals to gain essential knowledge and confidence in caring for patients undergoing HCT or cell therapy. It’s also a chance to learn from top experts and connect with peers from around the world.”

Esra Gülderen, Resident physician, Uludag University, Bursa, Turkey and EBMT Trainee Committee Co-Chair, continued: “As Co-Chair of EBMT Trainee Committee, it’s been incredibly rewarding to help design a programme truly by and for trainees.
