Innovation Center of NanoMedicine (iCONM), in collaboration with Prof. Takahiro Nomoto's Lab at the University of Tokyo, will hold a seminar on drug design and rationalization of treatment protocols for photodynamic therapy (PDT) based on singlet oxygen imaging on September 19, at 1:30 pm (JST). This is based on a Japan-Germany Bilateral Collaboration Research between DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science), with the aim of expanding the framework for joint research on the topic PDT and stimulating its international collaboration.
The German representative, Adjunct Professor Steffen Hackbarth, Humboldt University of Berlin, will speak on the importance of oxygen concentration in PDT and the highly original singlet oxygen imaging technique. The Japanese representative, Associate Professor Takahiro Nomoto, University of Tokyo, will speak on the need for rationalization of drug design in PDT. From the clinical side, Dr. Kenta Nagai, Assistant Professor and Chief of the Department of Neurosurgery, Tokyo Medical University Hospital, will introduce recent PDT research from a clinician's point of view. From iCONM, Dr. Sabina Quader, Deputy Principal Research Scientist of the Kataoka-Kino Lab, and Dr. Haochen Guo, Researcher of the Nishiyama Lab, will present their recent research results on the application of nano-DDS (Drug Delivery System).
This seminar will cover the latest topics on drug design and treatment protocols for PDT, which is attracting attention as a new cancer treatment method. We look forward to seeing many of you there.
