NEW YORK, NY – Oct. 02, 2025 – In an effort to ensure its journals’ long-term success, the American Thoracic Society has partnered with Oxford University Press (OUP), a leading nonprofit publisher.  Beginning in 2026, Oxford will handle the production and dissemination of all four of the ATS peer-reviewed journals:  the highly cited American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, the Annals of the American Thoracic Society, the American Journal of Respiratory, Cell, and Molecular Biology, and ATS Scholar.

This collaboration will enhance the visibility, reach and impact of the ATS publications while enabling the Society to adapt to a rapidly evolving publishing landscape. ATS will maintain editorial control and peer review while OUP manages production and dissemination.

“Oxford University Press is a leader in the academic space and highly regarded for its scholarship,” said ATS President Raed Dweik, MD, MBA, ATSF. “We look forward to the opportunity to leverage OUP’s capabilities to expand the reach of our journals and maintain their high impact for future generations of clinicians, researchers and educators in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine.”

“We are excited and grateful to collaborate with the American Thoracic Society to publish their four prestigious journals and contribute to the advancement of respiratory research worldwide,” said Alison Denby, Vice President of Journals at OUP. “The ATS and OUP align well on our research and education-oriented missions.”
