Korea University College of Medicine holds the entrance ceremony for the 2025 fall degree integration course of Lee Jong-wook Fellowship program

Korea University College of Medicine (Dean, Pyun Sung-beom) successfully held the entrance ceremony for the degree integration course of the Lee Jong-wook Fellowship Program in the fall semester of the 2025 academic year at Choi Jong Hyun Hall, SK Future Hall on Wednesday, September 10th.

 

The degree integration course organized by Korea University College of Medicine provides a master's course in △basic medicine, △Medical Education and △nursing for healthcare professionals in Laos, Mongolia, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, △Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Cambodia. In the last first period, 15 students were enrolled, with 12 new people joining in this second period, which makes the total of 27 students are currently being trained.

 

After earning their degrees, the trainees will create a virtuous cycle of research, education, and practice in their home countries, supported by personalized competency training and global networking opportunities. Furthermore, they are also supported to strengthen the governance capacity for training the healthcare workforce.

 

Niwamanya Keneth, a new student representative from Uganda, said, “I am grateful for the valuable opportunity I have for the future, and I will do my best to contribute not only to my personal growth but also to the development of my home country.”

 

“I hope that you will actively acquire advanced medical knowledge and skills through the excellent medical education infrastructure provided by Korea University College of Medicine, and I will fully support you to play a leading role in the healthcare field after your return home,” said the Dean Pyun, Sung Bom.

 

The Dr. Lee Jong-wook Fellowship is a healthcare ODA support program under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. It is an invited training program aimed at strengthening the capacity of healthcare personnel in developing countries. It provides various curricula from two months to up to two years for medical staff including doctors and nurses and government officials of the Ministry of Health of each country. Since the beginning of 2009, it has produced a total of 1,672 graduates from 30 countries. This degree program builds on that achievement, further establishing Korea University College of Medicine as a hub for cultivating global healthcare talent.
