Warsaw, 19 November 2025: The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) is pleased to announce the opening of the 2025 European Scientific Conference on Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology (ESCAIDE), Europe’s leading annual conference for applied research and best practice in infectious disease prevention and control.
Held from 19 to 21 November in Warsaw, Poland, as well as online, the conference brings together over 3 000 participants to exchange knowledge and strengthen collaboration in the fight against infectious disease. Online participation is open and free for anyone interested in applied infectious disease epidemiology and public health.
‘As we convene this year, our conference mission is clear: to bridge science with real-world public health action and to strengthen public trust in science,’ said Dr. Piotr Kramarz, ECDC Chief Scientist and Chair of the ESCAIDE Scientific Committee.
‘ESCAIDE 2025 is built on the principle that evidence must move beyond publication into policy, practice and action. Human, animal and environmental health are deeply interconnected. Inclusive, equitable approaches to disease prevention and control are not optional, but essential. I look forward to three days of dialogue, discovery and renewed partnerships that will reinforce Europe’s preparedness for infectious disease threats now and in the future.’
Conference highlights
- A rich programme featuring plenary sessions on turning evidence into policy and practice; addressing interconnections between human, animal and environmental health (One Health); and placing health equity and solidarity at the heart of public health responses.
- Presentations of the latest research through thematic sessions, poster tours and informal ‘fireside’ sessions connecting frontline data with policy and practice.
- A full suite of side events, including workshops, a Career Compass Q&A session for junior public health professionals, and a BarCamp networking session offering a forum to discuss fresh ideas with a peer-to-peer spirit.
- A photo contest reflecting this year’s work in applied epidemiology.
- A hybrid format: experts will gather in Warsaw, while participants from around the world can join remotely.
Why this year matters
As infectious disease threats evolve in an increasingly globalised, climate change-affected world – and with public health systems under growing pressure – ESCAIDE 2025 offers a platform to translate evidence into action, enhance multi-sectoral collaboration, and promote equity in disease prevention and control.
The conference themes reflect urgent priorities: building trust in science, demonstrating science-based leadership in public health, embracing One Health approaches, and embedding social justice into disease prevention and control.
Who should attend
Experts, professionals and students from a wide range of backgrounds, including public health professionals, epidemiologists, microbiologists, modellers, statisticians, veterinarians, health economists, communication specialists, policymakers and health journalists – anyone committed to applied infectious disease epidemiology and health security in Europe and beyond.
The full programme and registration details are available on the ESCAIDE website.
