Biological Diversity, a premier international journal dedicated to the holistic study of life on Earth, has officially launched its global recruitment drive for both the Editorial Board (EB) and the Youth Editorial Board (YEB).

To address the complexity of the global biodiversity crisis, the journal is seeking experts across a systematic spectrum of disciplines. This recruitment aims to create a "dual - tier" leadership structure-combining the strategic wisdom of established world - class scientists with the innovative energy of early - career researchers (typically under 40).

Systematic Scope: Six Core Research Pillars

Biological Diversity invites applications from scholars working within the following systematic framework:

Genetic & Molecular Diversity:

Population genetics, evolutionary genomics, multi - omics (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics), and environmental DNA (eDNA).

Organismal & Evolutionary Biology:

Taxonomy and systematics, phylogeny, behavioral ecology, reproductive biology, and the mechanisms of adaptation and diversification.

Community & Ecosystem Ecology:

Community assembly, species coexistence, food web dynamics, Biodiversity - Ecosystem Functioning (BEF), and landscape ecology.

Macroecology & Biogeography:

Global biodiversity patterns, species distribution modeling, paleobiology, and island biogeography.

Global Change Biology & Threat Assessment:

Impacts of climate change, biological invasions, habitat fragmentation, pollution, and wildlife diseases on biological systems.

Conservation, Restoration & Governance:

Protected area management, restoration ecology, conservation translocation, biodiversity policy and law, bio - economics, and the "One Health" approach.

Methodological Innovations:

Application of AI and Big Data in biodiversity monitoring, remote sensing, bioacoustics, and advanced statistical modeling.

Dual - Board Structure & Benefits

Editorial Board (EB): For senior scholars (Professors/Lead Scientists) to provide strategic guidance, oversee high - level peer reviews, and shape the journal's global influence.

Youth Editorial Board (YEB): For early - career stars (Assistant Professors/Postdocs) to participate in active editorial management, social media promotion, and organizing academic forums, with a clear mentorship pathway to the senior board.

"We aren't just looking for specialists; we are looking for architects of a sustainable future," says the Editor - in - Chief, Prof. Pat Heslop - Harrison, University of Leicester. "By systematizing our editorial expertise, we ensure that every dimension of biodiversity-from the double helix to the global biosphere-is represented and protected."

Application Process

Candidates are requested to submit a single PDF containing:

A detailed CV highlighting major publications and editorial experience.

A cover letter specifying the board (EB or YEB) and the Core Research Pillar(s) that best match their expertise.

A vision statement (max 300 words) on how they plan to contribute to the journal’s growth.

Application Deadline: March 31, 2026
