Pathak Studying 5G-Native Batteryless Tags For Tracking & Communication
Parth Pathak, Associate Professor, Computer Science, College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), received funding for the project: “From RFIDs to mmIDs: 5G-native Batteryless Tags for Tracking and Communication.”
Via this work, Pathak is proposing the commercialization of mmID, a novel Internet of Things solution that does not rely on batteries while providing accurate tracking and high-speed communication capabilities.
Pathak received $75,000 from the Virginia Innovation Partnership Authority for this research. Funding began in May 2026 and will end in late June 2027.
