About the BfR Summer Academy

The BfR Summer Academy was first held in 2012. Over the past 14 years, more than 1,000 participants from over 70 different countries have taken part in this training programme. The course is aimed at staff from public organisations working in the field of food and feed safety who already have experience in the analysis of health risks. Through the Summer Academy, the BfR contributes to the international harmonisation of food safety standards. The high European standards, regulations and knowledge regarding the quality, safety and hygiene of food can serve as leading examples in this regard.

About the BfR

The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) is a scientifically independent institution within the portfolio of the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity (BMLEH). It protects people's health preventively in the fields of public health and veterinary public health. The BfR provides advice to the Federal Government as well as the Federal States (‘Laender’) on questions related to food, feed, chemical and product safety. The BfR conducts its own research on topics closely related to its assessment tasks.
