Improved Fuel Structure Reduces Explosive Qualities (8 of 10)

video: Impact test performed on Jet-A treated with Caltech polymer shows that all of the ignition events caused by the continuously burning propane torches self-extinguish. Impact is performed under the same conditions as for the Jet-A experiment (projectile velocity 63 m/s, which is 140 mph). This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Oct. 2 2015, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by M.-H. Wei at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA, and colleagues was titled, "Megasupramolecules for safer, cleaner fuel by end association of long telechelic polymers." view more
