Conservation Strategies Are Not One-Size-Fits-All, in Tropical Savanna (6 of 6)

image: The plants of the Brazilian savanna (Cerrado) recover vigorously after fire and flourish in the open vegetation maintained by fire. These species require abundant light, and are at risk of disappearing where forest encroaches due to fire suppression. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Aug. 30, 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by R.C.R. Abreu at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, and colleagues was titled, 'The biodiversity cost of carbon sequestration in tropical savanna.' view more
