科研人员报告说， Ceratina nigrolabiata 蜂参与双亲照顾以及社会单偶制从而增加后代保护；雄性保护繁殖蜂巢，而雌性采集食物，即便多数后代与卫兵雄性没有亲缘关系的时候也是如此，而考虑到雌性 C. nigrolabiata 是一妻多夫的，这些发现提示了雄性之间竞争雌性以及双亲照顾通过增加交配机会从而为雄性蜂带来收益。
