Bushfire in Queensland, Australia

image: A bushfire in the Carnarvon National Forest in Queensland, Australia was reported on Sept. 18, 2013. It remains an ongoing bushfire, however, there is no current threat associated with the blaze. The Queensland Government Rural Fire Service has issued an advisory for this fire. Firefighting resources have been deployed to the area. This natural-color satellite image was collected by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard the Aqua satellite on Sept. 19, 2013. Actively burning areas, detected by MODIS's thermal bands, are outlined in red. view more
