科研人员报告说,对地球极地大气层上层的明亮的多个跨极极光弧的观测以及3D全球模拟合起来提示,这种极光弧是由等粒子流剪切和沿着地球磁场的电流产生的,来源于在一个向北的行星际磁场下的太阳风携带的超音速等离子流在磁层上的拖曳。
