Researchers report a wireless, stretchable hybrid electronic system for monitoring sodium intake in the oral cavity; the device, embedded within a breathable elastomeric membrane, integrates miniaturized chip-scale technology and microstructured sodium sensors to wirelessly measure sodium intake in real-time, and the authors demonstrated the in vivo feasibility of the sodium sensing technology in a study with three healthy participants, findings potentially relevant to managing hypertension, according to the authors.
