Twisting Light on a Chip (4 of 5)

video: The movie shows rotating spiral interference pattern created by disturbing the phase of a reference beam relative to that of a vortex beam with l=-4. The reference beam is a right hand circularly polarized Gaussian beam. Five arms can be seen clearly in the pattern. This video relates to a paper that appeared in the October 19, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Xinlun Cai at University of Bristol in Bristol, UK, and colleagues was titled, "Integrated Compact Optical Vortex Beam Emitters," by X. Cai; J. Wang; B. Johnson-Morris. view more
