Los Angeles, CA (April 28, 2016) Peter G. Northouse has won a 2016 William Holmes McGuffey Longevity Award ("McGuffey") from the Textbook & Academic Authors Association (TAA) for his text, Leadership: Theory and Practice. A SAGE Publishing text since 1997, Leadership: Theory and Practice is now in its seventh edition.

"It is a real honor to receive the McGuffey Longevity Award," commented Northouse. "My goal with Leadership: Theory and Practice is to explore how leadership theories, which are constantly evolving, can inform and direct the way leadership is practiced. It is humbling to receive an award that recognizes the longevity of this work."

Dedicated to acknowledging in-demand textbooks and educational materials that have been in print for at least 15 years, The McGuffey award recognizes works that demonstrate excellence in areas of pedagogy, content, writing, appearance, and design.

Dr. Peter G. Northouse, is Professor Emeritus of Communication in the School of Communication at Western Michigan University. For more than 30 years, he has taught courses in leadership, interpersonal communication, and organizational communication to both undergraduate and graduate students. Currently, he is a consultant and lecturer on trends in leadership research, leadership development, and leadership education.

Northouse and all TAA textbook award winners will be recognized at the upcoming awards luncheon during TAA's annual conference in San Antonio, TX, on June 24, 2016.
