The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is pleased to announce the launch of a new Science Partner Journal, Journal of Remote Sensing, published in affiliation with the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIR-CAS).
The Journal of Remote Sensing's mission is to promote high-quality publications that benefit the earth observation community. The scope of the journal will focus on the theory, science, and technology of remote sensing, as well as interdisciplinary research with earth science and information science.
Professor Yirong Wu, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, from the Aerospace Information Research Institute, will serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Remote Sensing. The Journal is currently open for submissions and will publish under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY).
"Remote sensing (RS) is a fast-growing and emerging interdisciplinary subject. Although RS journals currently exist, there are not enough to cover the thousands of exciting articles each year that document the advancement in RS science and technology", said Prof. Yirong Wu, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Remote Sensing. "The journal, supported by the Science Partner Journal program and with Editorial Board members composed of internationally renowned scientists, aims to publish high-quality papers on RS theory, science, techniques, and applications", continued Prof. Wu. "Aerospace Information Research Institute, the host institution of the journal, is the largest institute in Chinese Academy of Sciences. We are eager to establish a state-of-art platform to promote international communication and cooperation in the RS community. I am confident that the Journal of Remote Sensing can be a global top-tier journal in publishing and distributing RS research results associated with natural resources, agriculture, hazards, environment, and climate change."

New titles participating in the Science Partner Journal program will launch on a regular basis and participation in the program is kept to English-language publications. AAAS is actively seeking new partners across scientific disciplines. Organizations participating in the Science Partner Journal program will be editorially independent and responsible for the content published in each journal. Partner organizations are responsible for establishing editorial boards committed to best practices in peer review and author service.
