An event to launch this year's China Special Issue of The Lancet is to take place in Beijing on April 27, combined with the Inauguration of the China Center for Health Development Studies.

Guest speakers at the joint event include Chinese Minister for Health Chen Zhu, President of China Medical Board Lincoln Chen, Lancet Editor Richard Horton, and the Dean of Harvard School of Public Health, Julio Frenk.

The special issue is the fruit of an ongoing collaboration between Peking University, China Medical Board, The Lancet, and researchers in China. Copies of the special issue have been produced in Chinese for the launch event. The issue follows up on The Lancet Series on Health-care reform published in 2008. And the Lancet has recently appointed its first ever Asia Editor, Helena Wang, based in Beijing.
