Study Illuminates Altinum, Ancestor of Venice (6 of 6)

In this aerial image taken July 2007 (Realvista 2007, Telespazio S.p.A.), the maize and soy crop marks reveal ancient urban fabric and waterways, the city walls and gates, as well as the street network, dwellings and monumental buildings. This image relates to an article that appeared in the July 31, 2009, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Andrea Ninfo of Padua University in Padua, Italy, and colleagues, was titled, "The Map of Altinum, Ancestor of Venice." view more
