美国穷人的绝望不断增加

1995年到1996年以及2011年到2014年进行的对年龄在24岁到76岁的4600多名美国成年人的一项全国调查提示，在社会经济地位（SES）低的个体当中，在这两个调查波次之间的消极情绪显著增加，而积极情绪、生活满意以及心理幸福感显著减少；相比之下，社会经济地位（SES）最高的个体的这些精神卫生测量数据的变化最小，甚至与社会经济地位（SES）低的个体相反。
