video: This video shows a reproduction of the Polychrome Ceiling from Altamira cave in the National Museum and Research Centre of Altamira. The famous polychrome bison can be seen painted over earlier red symbols which include the large double claviform -- dated to earlier than 35,600 years ago and visible in the bottom right at 0m46s in the video. This video relates to a paper that appeared in the June 15, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Alistair Pike at the University of Bristol in Bristol, UK, and colleagues was titled, "U-Series Dating of Paleolithic Art in 11 Caves in Spain." view more
