自闭症谱系性状是对特定人做出社会判断的困难程度的一个预测因素，但是一项有6900多人参加的研究发现，自闭症谱系形状预测了在判断一般社会现像时候的一种意料之外的技能；这组作者说，这些结果提示，分辨系统的模式和规则的技能这是自闭症谱系障碍的一个特征可能造成了对社会现像的感知的增强。
