Mark conducting collaborative research on intelligent full-duplex cognitive radio networks

Grant and Award Announcement

George Mason University

Brian L. Mark, Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering, is set to receive $241,361 from the National Science Foundation for a project in which Mason will be responsible for the development of machine learning-based spectrum sensing techniques as a key component of the Intelligent Full Duplex Cognitive Radio Network (IFD-CRN) architecture.

Mason researchers will also be involved in the design of the network visualization (NV) architecture and NV-based resource management for IFD-CRN.

Mason researchers will conduct research, perform validation through situation and testbed evaluation, and publish research papers. They will also assist University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML) researchers in the development and evaluation of the integrated IFD-CRN testbed and data collection. The research collaboration between Mason and UML will involve regular virtual meetings and some site-based meetings. The collaborative work will result in joint papers co-authored by Mason and UML researchers.

Funding for this project will begin in September 2020 and will end in late August 2023.
