Aluminide Coating

image: Researchers at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory have developed a ceramic-based aluminide coating that protects steel and superalloys against corrosion, oxidation and other adverse chemical reactions. The coating is economical, easy to apply and does not chip off. Large areas can be covered using simple equipment, such as this hand-held air sprayer that coated several samples with a preceramic polymer-based slurry mixture that, after firing, forms the durable coating. view more
