image: Lapatinib fluoresces under ultraviolet light excitation. This property of the compound was used to visualize lapatinib uptake in ex vivo samples from the gastrointestinal tract of treated mice. A fluorescence image of varying concentrations of lapatinib in vitro is shown. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the June 8, 2011, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by Dr. N.G. Dolloff of University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa., and colleagues, was titled, "Off-Target Lapatinib Activity Sensitizes Colon Cancer Cells Through TRAIL Death Receptor Up-Regulation." view more
