The European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO) and the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) have awarded the ESCEO-IOF Pierre Meunier Young Scientist Award to Dr. Daniel Pinto from the College of Health Sciences, Marquette University, and the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, USA.
The ESCEO-IOF Pierre Meunier Young Scientist Award, presented annually since 2017, is awarded to a young investigator who has demonstrated outstanding scientific merit early in his or her career, prior to reaching a prominent academic position, and who is expected to be a future thought-leader in the musculoskeletal field. The Award was presented on August 22nd during a special session of the virtual WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2020, the largest Congress in the field of bone, muscle and joint disease.
Professor Jean-Yves Reginster, ESCEO President and Co-Chair of WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2020 noted:

Dr. Pinto has already made important contributions to the field with his research on cost-effectiveness of interventions for the management of musculoskeletal conditions, and the assessment of patient preferences for arthritis management strategies."
Dr. Daniel Pinto, PT, DPT, PhD, a specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy, is currently appointed to the Department of Physical Therapy, College of Health Sciences, Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI, with a secondary appointment at the Department of Medical Social Sciences, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. He is a member of the IOF Committee of Scientific Advisors, Co-chair of the IOF Rehabilitation Working Group, and a member of the ESCEO Scientific Advisory Board. Since 2016 he has been a member of the Leadership Advisory Group, Osteoarthritis Action Alliance. From 2018-2020 he was a member of the ESCEO Working Group on patients' preferences for anti-osteoarthritis drug treatment: a cross-European Discrete Choice Experiment. Dr. Pinto was awarded the 2015 European Society for the Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis (ESCEO) Fellowship Award. He has published numerous papers and is currently developing a digital infrastructure to support patient self-management of physical activity behaviour in older adults with musculoskeletal diseases of aging.
