The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is pleased to announce the launch of new Science Partner Journal, Space: Science & Technology, published in affiliation with the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). BIT cooperates with China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) which is affiliated with China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) in managing the journal.

Space: Science & Technology's mission is to promote the exploration and research of space worldwide, to lead the rapid integration and technological breakthroughs of interdisciplinary sciences in the space field, and to build a high-level academic platform for discussion, cooperation, technological progress, and information dissemination among professional researchers, engineers, scientists, and scholars. The journal's scope includes space science, space technology, and space infrastructure and services as three major domains. Categories of manuscripts include research articles, review articles, editorials, rapid reports, and perspectives.

Dr. Peijian Ye, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor from China Academy of Space Technology will serve as the Editor-in-Chief, while Yulin Deng, Professor from Beijing Institute of Technology, Academician of International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), and the President of IAA Life Science Department will serve as the Executive Editor-in-Chief.

Space: Science & Technology is currently open for submission and will publish under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY). Two additional Science Partner Journal titles from BIT are also now currently open for submission. Their titles are Cyborg and Bionic Systems and Energy Material Advances.

"Current demands in expanding and strengthening academic interaction and cooperation within international space fields have been progressively increasing", said Dr. Peijian Ye, "China has been advocating for building a community of shared future for mankind, and Chinese people who work in space fields have the mindset to open and share China's scientific discoveries and innovative achievements."

Professor Yulin Deng said, "Space: Science & Technology focuses on the frontier fields of international space science and technology development, and will publish new knowledge, new theories, and new technologies in space science", he continued. "We wish to build an important high-standard platform that presents and communicates space science achievements for scholars in this field".

Academician Jun Zhang, President of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), said: "The launch and development of Space: Science & Technology with the support of AAAS will surely accelerate the cooperation and joint development between international space partner organizations and universities from China represented by BIT together with scientific research institutes represented by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST). We hope that Space: Science & Technology, as an academic sharing platform in space fields for global scientists, can make new contributions to world space science, space technology, and space applications."

"The Science Partner Journal program is happy to welcome this new journal with top tier partner, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT)," said Bill Moran, Publisher of the Science family of journals at AAAS. "Space: Science & Technology will provide a platform for interdisciplinary integration of space research and exploration, advancing technology and information dissemination. Under the leadership of Peijian Ye and Yulin Deng and with BIT's guidance and collaboration, we are confident the journal will excel."

New titles participating in the Science Partner Journal program will launch on a regular basis and participation in the program is kept to English-language publications. AAAS is actively seeking new partners across scientific disciplines. Organizations participating in the Science Partner Journal program will be editorially independent and responsible for the content published in each journal. Partner organizations are responsible for establishing editorial boards committed to best practices in peer review and author service.
