大猿的虹膜与巩膜着色

科研人员比较了51只倭黑猩猩、50只黑猩猩和52名人类的巩膜灰度值如何与虹膜着色形成对比，结果发现倭黑猩猩和人类的巩膜比虹膜更亮，而黑猩猩的巩膜比虹膜更暗，这组作者说，考虑到虹膜与巩膜之间的相对对比度在所有这三个物种中都类似，这提示某些非人类大猿可能也使用注视作为社会信号。
