南アフリカでは最古のホモ・エレクトスなど3種のヒト族が同時期に生きていた

多数の化石人骨が埋もれたドリモレン古洞窟（Drimolen Paleocave）遺跡群を地質年代学的に新たに評価した結果によると、約200万年前、現在の南アフリカのカルスト地形地域ではヒト族3属 ―― アウストラロピテクス、パラントロプス、最古のホモ・エレクトス ―― が同時期に生きていたという。
