大气氧的火成岩记录

科研人员编纂了此前发表的跨越过去30亿年的2.9万多个火成岩的钍-铀(Th/U)比率,并且报告了发生在大约23.5亿年和7.5亿年前的两次显著减少,这分别符合此前确立的大氧化事件以及新元古代氧化事件的日期,这是大气氧增加的两个主要阶段,这提示钍-铀(Th/U)比率可能是大气氧水平的一个有效的记录。
