JOR Spine is dedicated to serve the spine research community by offering a platform focusing on basic and translational orthopaedic research of the spine. The new journal will publish articles, reviews, short communications, and perspectives in topic areas including the biological basis of development, growth, aging and degeneration, biomechanical and novel imaging methods, mechano-biology, biomaterial applications, and pre-clinical and clinical studies based on novel preventative and regenerative approaches.

ORS President, Dr. Rick Sumner, said "The ORS is delighted to serve as an academic home for the spine research community. This new journal will provide an important mechanism to disseminate knowledge and to advance the understanding of diseases of the spine and to develop new treatment strategies. We are particularly proud of the international stature of the three co-editors and the fact that they also represent the three basic pillars of orthopaedic research: clinicians, biologists, and engineers."

"Wiley is delighted to further our collaboration with the ORS as we extend into open access publishing with the launch of JOR Spine," said Colette Bean, Vice President & Society Director at Wiley. "It's been honor for us to support the ORS' mission of advancing and fostering the muscoskeletal community and now expanding our partnership with an exciting new launch aimed to be the best designation for high quality spine research."
