image: The Nabro volcano's first eruption occurred on June, 12, 2011 and satellite imagery from NASA's Terra and Aqua satellites (among others) have provided imagery of the ash plume since that time. This gallery provides imagery from June 18-20, 2011 of the eruptions as seen from the MODIS instrument that flies on those two satellites. The ash plume traveled as high as 9 miles (15 km) and affected air travel. Ash from the volcano has affected Djibouti, Sudan and Ethiopia.
