对美国威斯康星州的鹿-汽车相撞的一项研究发现，平均起来，引入狼能减少县的鹿-汽车相撞24%，而相撞减少带来的经济收益是经过验证的狼捕食牲畜的经济损害的63倍；该研究进一步发现，碰撞的减少可以归结为鹿的行为的更广泛的变化而非鹿的种群变化，这提示猎人无法复制捕食者对猎物种群的全部效应。
